Ultrium 230 tape grabbing info needed

Hi,

after a stuck tape problem on a ultrium 230 I got the cardridge out, but the tape was shredded. After manually removing 200m of tape from the wheel I finally also got that little part which grabs the tape from the cardridge and is connected via a short transparent tape with the wheel. Now it is hanging out of the device, coming directly from the wheel and I have no idea where to put it and how the way of the transparent tape should be in the mechanism.

Does anyone now how to resolve or has a sketch about the tape way ?

HP want's 1100 Euro for repair so I would like to try myself.

Any input is welcome !

it can be done but it is very difficult and you run the risk of ruining the read/write head which results in even more expensive repair. I have attempted this numerous times and was only successful once and even then the drive failed a few days later. I probably damaged the head trying to rethread the leader.
