Ultrium 960 restarted while updating firmware. Can it be repaired?

I accidentally restart an HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960 (LTO3) while it was updating the firmware using tape and now will not start.
Only the power light lit, but no more.
Not detected by the operating system.
Not load or eject tape.

Can it be repaired?

Hi,

It is doubthfull that it can be repaired with the tools at hand.

The only thing i can think of is using L&TT and trying to reupgrade the drive.

If you have try to do that, the only option left is calling the repair center.

Thanks, but I've tried, but does not detect the unit. I have contacted technical support but do not give me option to repair, only to change (I imagine that for a repair, not new) and I guess it will cost almost as new.

There must be some way to load the firmware, but may not have the necessary tools ...

Trillo,

A firmware upgrade can be forced on the drive, but for that you would need to call the helpline and ask them for a two day password or ask them to perform a webex session to upgrade the firmware. If that fails then the drive will need to be replaced.
