I own an Ultrium 448 connected on a Adaptec 29160 Ultra 160 on a Windows XP Pro SP2 1Gb Ram Athlon 64 3400+
Performance annonced by HP is about 108Gb/hour
Performance observed about 6 hours for 40 Gb.
Is anyone to tell me what part of my configuration mistakes? My backup have to be done in 2 hours maximum (timing problem)
Thanks

Re: Ultrium Performance
Did you manage to solve your problem? I have a similar problem, so I would be interested in the solution.
I am trying to get an Ultrium 460 to run with an Adaptec 29160 on a DELL E520 Intell Duo Core, 2 GB Ram. Windows XP Pro SP 2.
I get 3 MB/s which should be 30 MB/s.
Regards, Jan

Re: Ultrium Performance
To determine if it was an OS problem, a system problem or something else, I installed the Adaptec card in my old Pentium III Dell running windows 2000 SP4.
Installed the appropriate drivers and the test software and guess what? Same problem! The LTT soft still shows that the SCSI card is the bottleneck... (didn't bother to actually test the speed yet).
So if it is not XP, and not the drivers, then it could be the Adaptec card, the card bios, the cable, or the tapedrive...
Can you see any obvious problems in my bios settings? (attached).
Thanks, Jan
