Hi,
I have attached an Ultrium3 tape drive to the onboard 68pin SCSI connector on the rear of a RX2620 running HP-UX11iv3. I can see tape with ioscan etc....
# ioscan -fkNnCtape
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===================================================================
tape 1 64000/0xfa00/0xe estape CLAIMED DEVICE HP Ultrium 3-SCSI
/dev/rtape/tape1_BEST /dev/rtape/tape1_BESTb /dev/rtape/tape1_BESTn /dev/rtape/tape1_BESTnb

but am unable to access and use the tape drive..
# mt rewind
/dev/rmt/0mnb: No such device or address
I have tried removing and redreating driver files etc with insf -e
any ideas / help appreciated

Shalom,
The tape drive won't work off the built in. You need to use your scsi add in card, or purchase and obtain and install the card.
I ran into this fun on an rx2600 in the HP Performance center in Ra'ana'h Israel.
They had a scsi card handy so it didn't slow me down very much.
