Unclaim Tape Drive From Stape Driver? HPUX 11.0

I want to install a Third Party tape driver in the place of Stape. Is there anyway to unclaim specific tape driver or uninstall stape?

Well, you could always just remove stape from the kernel and reboot. Use SAM -> Kernel Tuning -> Device Drivers, or something like that.

I tried that and it unclaimed the tape drives but stape is still listed as the driver. Even though the tape are unclaimed it appears that stape is not allowing the other driver to claim the tape drives. Is there anyway to remove the stape driver? This is a test system so I can take risky chances.

Steve,

if you rebuild the kernel without the 'stape' driver, it cannot be used any more.

And then you can install the new driver.

But which tape and driver are you talking about?
