Unexpected Mount Request

Hello,

I have a built-in DLT 4000 drive(DLT III) connected with K Class, which is used to backup database data. The expected capacity of data is around 20G. However, database backup server say "Mount the next volume" when the backuped data reach to 10G in some cases. What is the likely cause?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Unexpected Mount Request

Hello,

this could have various reasons.
In many cases a lowly capacity results from a not-streaming backup. Are the database data you want to backup stored local on the same server or did you back up it over a lan?
If possibel you should observe your tape during a backup session. If your device often stops and starts writing to the tape your system maybe waste tape capacity. In this case you must find the bottleneck (often the lan) to get a streaming backup.

Re: Unexpected Mount Request

Hi

Which devicefile do you use ?
If I undestand you correct you dont have this problem with evry tape.
At the left of the drive is som LEDs, which of these are on (with a "normal" tape).
Is there any differences (with this LEDs) if you load a tape which you got a mount request.
