If I've found the wrong forum, please let me know where might be more appropriate!
I've got an HP DLT-7000 2/15 tape library, and I'm doing a restore involving many tapes. Is there a way to unlock the case without powering down the whole unit?
It takes several minutes to re-power-up, and I'd like to handle a single mount request without waiting interfering with the other busy drive!

Solution
You should probably post this in the 'Tape Libraries' forum but here goes:
1) On the fron t panel, press. 'Release Door' will be displayed.
2) Press and wait a few seconds. The library will unlock.
It will still have to go through the self-check when you close the door.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Unlock a HP DLT-7000 2/15
Thanks! This really helps as I've don't have the manuals. Is there a way to unlock the door from the command line using mc or other command?

Re: Unlock a HP DLT-7000 2/15
I don't think 'mc' will do this. If you are using OmniBack, the uma command has a doorlock 0|1 command that MIGHT work although it is intended to be used with mailslots. Man uma for details.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
