W2k Server hangs with DAT40i+Adaptec 29160N

GA-7DPXDW w/ AMD MP 2000+
w/ Promise PDC2067 RAID on board
2x 80GB IDE
Adaptec 29160N !!!
HP DAT40i Newest Firmware
Tapeware or Arcserv newest Version
Windows 2000 Server
Problem:
Start Backup (tapeWare or Arcserv), the display shows, that backup ist running. after a few (or more) minutes the complet machine stops. The screen is frozen. no Bluescreen. no Softreset possible. The IDE-HD-LED and SCSI-Bus-LED is on. I Think it's a problem with the hardware HP-Adaptec-gigabyte.

hi,
first of all be sure you don't have hardware conflicts, in fact this is the first cause of hangs after few minuts of activity.
check on the system information of your server to check for that, eventualy try to deactivate background task that can interfere with the backup (like antivirus, performance monitoring ...) If you suspect a problem with some kind of hardware, thy to remove it, change the pci slot, of reset the cmos configuration.

New Information:

The 29160N and Promise RAID Contoller both on IRQ 18 in the Hardware-MAnger
Is this a Problem? How can i change it?

This could be the cause.
try to change the pci slot,
depending of the hardware, the way how the irq are managed could be differents, check in the bios config if you have something related to reset PNP settings
