This is the error we get when we try to take backup of file system in Tape.We use DLT tape that stores 40 - 80 GB.

Can somebody help me out of this!!!!!!!

Does the problem happen on multiple tapes, or just one?

it happens in all tapes, even new tape, i have even cleaned the tape drive many time.
The backup goes for 2-3 hrs and then this error comes.

I assume you are on HP-UX.

Can you install the HP-UX version of HP Library & Tape Tools (www.hp.com/support/tapetools), and then select the drive from the device list, select the support tool, and then save the support ticket to a file?

You can then post the .ltt file and I can review the drive error logs to see what the root cause is.

yes we are using HP-Ux,

Is there any temporary work around.??

We would need to look at the drive error logs to see what is causing the failure, before knowing if a workaround is possible.

Where could i get the error*.ltt file??

Iam not able to download it from the site, it is unable to locate the server ftp.hp.com.

I meant that i couldn't download the tool you mentioned in hp.com.


And where could i find the *.ltt file in HP-UX

Here is the location of the HP-UX LTT install:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software3/COL1977/co-18247-1/hp_ltt34sr1a_hpux.tar

When you generate a support ticket using LTT, it will save it in a .ltt file (whatever name you give it). This is the support ticket file which you can then post, or email to ltt_team@hp.com, and I can review the drive logs.
