Warranty repair info
Can anyone supply information about how HP tape drives are qualified for warranty repair?
I'm thinking about buying a used DAT24 drive, and I want to know what type of documentation I'll need (if I'll need any, if any will help) to qualify for warranty repair, should it become necessary.
One aspect of this question is whether I can to determine a drive's date of production from any of the labeling on it.

Re: Warranty repair info
Jonathan,
Each product varies on its warranty and repair policy by when the product was produced and other factors. Here is the specific information per each model.

Re: Warranty repair info
Thanks for the reference. I looked at the page, and it needs a bit of explanation. One entry refers to "SureStore DAT," and another refers to "DAT trade ready mechanisms." I have no idea what the latter means -- it's certainly not a model designation. Can someone clarify it, please?

Re: Warranty repair info
There's a web page where you can enter your product model/serial-number, and check on it's warranty status:
https://partsdirect.hp.com/ViewWarrantyVerification.asp
Regarding trade-ready products, I believe these are individual drive mechanisms only which go to companies like system integrators, who then incorporate them into their own products. They carry different warranty terms and conditions. The HP branded product used the SureStore branding.

The journey IS the reward.
