Windows 2k @ LTO drives with Data Protector

Hi,
We've got two windows 2k systems that seem to want to always ID and install drivers to SAN LTO tape drives. HP says with DP and LTO tape drives they recommend keeping the devices as "Unknown" & disabled. This works for us on other win2k and win2k3 systems, but not these two.

We've checked the basics, and our win admin guys aren't helpful. It seems like the host "remembers" that device and automatically sets it up. We have RSM disabled.

Thanks

It may be that Plun&play found and associate with previous drivers.
I think it is enough if you disable it in Device Manage, DP will not use them

I'll look at the P&P, but we can go in and disable them - they come right back with drivers.

Re: Windows 2k @ LTO drives with Data Protector

Looks like a co-worker of mine found the issue.

He did a manual update of the driver, before "finishing" he noted the path of the file. Then he renamed the file and uninstalled the devices. They have stayed "unknown" for a while now.

In one case the file was named oem39, and the other case the file was named oem21. I'm not sure what part of windows this is ... I'm UNIX guy, is this P&P?

Thanks
