Windows ASR disk
On trying to resore a test ASR backup the system is unable to find the HP StorageWorks DAT 72 USB Tape Drive.
We have followed the instructions on http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299044 and http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;887494 But still we are continually prompted to provide the correct media during the ASR restore operation on a Windows Server 2003. Copy of ASR disk attached.

Re: Windows ASR disk
This forces the disk to use the HP CD when it can├в t find the correct driver.
See attached disk. Note the disk is labled HPDVR.
The lines are added like:
"HPDVR","%FLOPPY%","hpdat.sys","%SYSTEMROOT%\INF\hpdat.sys","hp",0x00000026
This fools the restore into asking for the HP CD during the GUI driver install.
But now we get,
(Error:ntbackup.exe) Some files were not successfully recovered. For details see C:\windows\repair\bacup.log
The recovery application "ntbackup recover /1 /sifpath=c\windows\repair\asr.sif" returned an error code 0x1f. Since this indicates an unrecoverble error, ASR cannot continue on this machine.
Even less info out there on this
Problem is if I do normal windows set backup with SP1 that fails booting after restoring is complete. Pretty stuck at present

Re: Windows ASR disk
Put both (drivers and txtsetup.oem file) on a floppy.
Boot from Windows Server 2003 CD, and press F6 to load extra drivers.
(Also press F2 to start ASR)
And so the drivers will get loaded correctly.

Re: Windows ASR disk
Please note this is the one I used for my Ultrium 460 drive.
You will need to create you own txtsetup.oem file, but you can you this one as a template. If you can't work out with this, feel free to contact me, perhaps I can help you creating that file.
Also note this is not an oficial file and solution, but it worked in my case :-)
