compaq TL891

i am having a problem where everytime it boots up it says slave init error. how can i reset it to defaults because everytime i hit enter it reboots the drive. i cant get into the menu to reset the defaults. Is there keys i can press while turning on the library that will reset everything?

Cycle power while holding the escape key, this will restore to factory defaults.
