configure autoloader
Hi,
I am posting this here too in addition to Data protector forum.
I installed cell manager on Windows NT box, Installation server on UNIX( O/S 11.11 ) server(server 1). After this succssfully pushed client software to same UNIX server(server 1)which has installation server.
I could import UNIX client(server 1) successfully into cell manager. The same UNIX server has tape drive with autoloader( one drive and 8 tape slots).
question
--------
1) When i did autoconfigure devices from cell manager, it brought back the tape drive as "standalone" and no slots info is showing up in cell manager. I am not sure if interface type will be "standalone" or "SCSI II".Any idea ?
2) For problem 1 mentioned above, i did "ioscan -fn" nd found following info :
unknown -1 0/0/1/0.0.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN HP ThinStor AutoLdr
I followd document KBAN00000190(CONFIGURE A TAPE LIBRARY IN HP-UX (10.x, 11.x))and created device file and still autoldr shows as unclaimed.
In the document, there are test to test this. I did follwing tests :
a)
cd /usr/contrib/src
cc scsi_io.c
./a.out /dev/picker
As expected i got :
The thing claims to be: HP ThinStor AutoLdrH33r03300330
b) mc -p /dev/picker -r ISDM
I get reply as
MT_slot_1 EMPTY
IE_slot NONE
DT_slot_1 EMPTY
ST_slot_1 EMPTY
ST_slot_2 EMPTY
ST_slot_3 EMPTY
ST_slot_4 EMPTY
ST_slot_5 EMPTY
ST_slot_6 EMPTY
ST_slot_7 EMPTY
ST_slot_8 EMPTY
From a) and b) test i assume autochanger is working fine, still autoldr is unclaimed ?
3) The tape drive attached to UNIX server is "hp storage works 1/8 autoloader".This has one tape drive and 8 slots. Can i get steps/suggestions how to configure this tape drive with autochanger completely with DP 5.1
Thanks
S.Anupindi
