dlt 40/80 internal/external

is it possible to have a dlt 40/80 on the external scsi connection and also have an internal dlt 40/80 on the internal scsi connection on a g1 ml370 server. it has integrated dual channels. so the external is on port 1 while the internal is on port2.
it recognizes both and both work but i am getting no throughput on them. only 25mb/s whereas on another server where i only have 1 internal on port 1 i get 500mb/s.

sorry..it is 25mb/min and 500mb/min.
