does HBA card on Dell PowerEdge 2950 would support LTO 6- MSL 20
hii
i want to know that does HBA (Host Bus Adaptor used with SAN storage) card on Dell PowerEdge 2950 would support LTO 6- MSL 2024. plz reply as sson as possible.

Even if it did i wouldnt bother, and lto6 will want atleast a 6GB SAS HBA, but the 2950 is gonna be a 3GB card so would bottleneck the drive alot.

I don't know what kind of HBA is in the Dell 2950 but the specs on that system list tape support and tape library support so it seems likely that it would work with an MSL 2024. It wouldn't be able to stream an LTO-6 tape drive at full speed with normally compressible data but could write at full speed with uncompressible data and nearly 2:1 compressible data so as long as you aren't worried about getting the absolute maximum possible speed it should be fine. The HPE LTO-6 tape drive is really good at slowing down a little if the data isn't arriving at full speed and won't wear out the tapes or the drive just because the server can't keep up.
