ems messages about dds3 drive
Hello all,
One of my DDS3 drives connected to HP9000/N4000 server running HPUX 11.0 gives the below EMS error in the syslog.log file.
Feb 10 06:33:17 ofprod EMS [2204]: ------ EMS Event Notification ------ Value: "CRITICAL (5)" for Resource: "/storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/0_0_1_0.1.0" (Threshold: >= " 3") Execute the following command to obtain event details: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 144441350 -r /storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/0_0_1_0.1.0 -n 144441349 -a
Feb 10 07:33:18 ofprod EMS [2204]: ------ EMS Event Notification ------ Value: "SERIOUS (4)" for Resource: "/storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/0_0_1_0.1.0" (Threshold: >= " 3") Execute the following command to obtain event details: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 144441350 -r /storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/0_0_1_0.1.0 -n 144441350 -a
The DDS3 drive was replaced with a new one just a few days back. EMS reports this error but the drive works fine for a month or so. After appox a month's time the drive fails. This keeps happening and the drive is being replaced approx every month.
The confusing thing is, the same type of drive works on other servers at same site for years without any problem/ems message.
Anybody here faced similar issue? Any kind of input will be helpful in reaching a conclusion.
Thanks in advance for the replies.
Regards/Sunil Kumar
