errors importing tape

Hello. I am having issues importing a tape - getting database errors (below). Has anyone seen this before - is this an indication of a db problem?
Internal error in ("sm/msm/msmcatalog.c /main/dp55/20":892) => process aborted
This is an unexpected condition and is likely due to a
corrupted media or combination of circumstances
involving both this product and the operating system.
