fbackup
I have a remote location that recently had a major root drive crash and of course they did not have a valid backup. I am trying to write a better fool-proof backup script but to do so I need to write some header information to the DDS tape. OS is HPUX 10.20x.
Q1: Is there a way that I can write my own volumn ID to a DDS tape using fbackup or anyother standard HPUX backup command?
Q2: What is the command to recall that information (frecover)?
Thank you for any information.
David

Re: fbackup
hi,
you cannot customize the fbackup tape label.
We used to put a file in the root directory with some info in it (tape number, ...). It will be at the beginning of the tape, and can/could be recovered fast.
regards,
Thierry.

All unix flavours are exactly the same . . . . . . . . . . for end users anyway.
