how to use all tape drives in MSL 6060
Hi all,
We have MSL 6060 tape library with 4 drives
We start backing up data with DATA PROTECTOR but we couldnt manage to use all the drives simultaneously. I mean how could I make the data protector to use all the drives in one job to accomplish the job faster.
Best regards
thanks

Re: how to use all tape drives in MSL 6060
Hello!
Do you configured all drives within the operating system?
In Unix you should see that all the drives configured (/dev/rmt/0,/dev/rmt/1... )
and ioscan -fn shows this also ...
Second:
Please check your data protector license
that it is licensed to all the drives.
Third:
Did you see any Data Protector error message?
Regards:
Paul

Re: how to use all tape drives in MSL 6060
Hello necdet,
check concurrency in the dataprotector backup spec. Concurrency overrides load balancing. If concurrency is set to 4 and load balancing is 5, but you have only 4 disk agents dataprotector will only use 1 drive. so lower concurrency if you have e.g only two objects/disk agents.
But beware, with 4 drives simultaniously the data will be spread over 4 tapes wich could increase restore time. And perhaps the drives are not in streaming mode.
regards.
Volker
