that has a strange problem with the tapes.
the tape that was included in the package was a C8010A (72 gb) and it works fine.
so I bought 20 more and none of those work.
I can lable them ect. but when I start writing to them I get a message in veritas that just sais "Failed" nothing more.
since it works with the original tape and not the others (all C8010A), I'm guessing I'm missing something that has to be done to the tapes before you use them or ?
I use Veritas BackupExec 8.5 on a Windows 2000 server.
(it's not an overwrite problem or a media group problem)
Many Thanks in Advance.

Re: hp 72 gb dat
You may have to initialise the tape and import it into a media pool to make to work.

Re: hp 72 gb dat
one tape works and the rest don't.
I've tried to use the Veritas driver and the hp driver. both updated.
same error.
only thing I can think of that it might be is that somehow the original tape is "bound" to the backup station.
is that possible ?
I guess it must be something in windows cause the problem isn't a BE 8.5 problem or a tape problem (I can't think that it is cause I can label them and BE can read the label)

Solutionhttp://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/compatibility.html
├в Make sure you stop all Backup services, and disable/Stop removeable storage, befor you Run L&TT├в
And if the test passed OK
Run your backup exec software and erase the tape and try to do a backup on that tape
