intermittent controller error or defective tape (event id 7 or 11)
Hi,
Having ML110G3 with internal USB DAT DDS72 (C7438A rev ZU75) under Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2 completely patched.
NTBackup used. Intermittently getting event id 11 or 7 in system logfiles.
Drive changed twice by HP Support, and 2 sets of new HP tapes used. May work fine during 3 weeks...

Re: intermittent controller error or defective tape (event id 7 or 11)
The description about the events are very general.
I would install LTT and run an assessment test against the drive first. Pull a support ticket after this test.
http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools
IIRC this drive is already supported with the tool.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Please find attached reports.
When C7438A clean indicator is lit, does it let you continue to make backups, or will it always fail if you try to.
BRegards,
Francis
