Re: msl5026 drives not accessable

Please tell us some things: What OS your server is running? What type of connection is used? SCSI or Fibre Channel?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: msl5026 drives not accessable

First check, if the lib can see the drives. Use front panel or web-interface. Second, you have to check the drive mapping on the fibre channel router inside the lib. This device has its own web interface and a serial console (use hyperterminal to connect serial, speed 115200)

Hope this helps!

Re: msl5026 drives not accessable

I can see the drives from the front panel, I can load and unload tapes to them manually. I can access the web page, but do not have any passwords. The serial port does not respond. I used a straight through serial cable, an Rs232 cable, and an enhanced RS232 cable. It will not work with hyperterm or the MLS utility

Re: msl5026 drives not accessable

There are 2 different serial cables, 1 for the library, 1 for the storage router. You need to use the correct one, connected to the serial port (RJ11) directly on the FC card. Do you know the IP address of the FC card? Te default IP name is "Router".

Hope this helps!

Re: msl5026 drives not accessable

i dont have a cable with a RJ11/DB9 setup. I do have a DB9 that i can change the PIN outs, with an option to plug in a RJ11 or RJ45 on the other end. DO you have a diagram of the needed pin out so I can make one?

Re: msl5026 drives not accessable

Sorry Steve, I don't know the pin out.

I only know the part number: 300576-001.

If the lib was previously in use, it has probably customized settings. But I can tell you the defaults. The IP is either 1.1.1.1 or DHCP with hostname "Router". The account is root/password.

I know also there is a button (behind the hole near the LED). The button is not documented and I *don't* say "press it".
But what is it used for?

Please try to connect with telnet or browser using the defaults first or try to get the serial cable.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: msl5026 drives not accessable

Forget about the button, use pin 2 for ground, 3 transmit, 4 receive, 5 CTS, 6 RTS.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
