In device manager we have the medium changer driver loaded, and there are 2 tape drives detected with correct drivers installed.
We have disabled the 2 tape drives and left the medium changer enabled.
It all works fine with no problems.
Is this an optimum/correct installation, especially having the tape drives disabled and is anyone aware of documentation outlining the installation configuration for msl6030.

Re: msl6030 installed on windows 2003
In our installation, we have all drivers disabled, for changer and drives.

It is OK if the tape drives are disabled.
DP writes directly to the tape not via the windows driver

The library is fibre connected into the SAN switches. The cell manager is connected to the same switch.

SolutionData protector has it's own control of the devices, the only difference you will see is that the device names used by data protector will change.
The device path will have the form: scsi2:0:0:1C
