need help for qtm4500s autoload

hi there.
I have a qtm4500s. my scsi card just identify
one scsi ID#:
" scsi ID#-4 qauntum 4500"
Is this right?
can use the computer change the tape?

Hi there.
You should also have a SCSI id for the transport robot like :

spt 0 32.1.1 spt CLAIMED DEVICE Quantum TZ Media Changer

The driver spt must be included in the kernel.
Then the transport and tape change will be done by the robot, if you use the right software for it ( like OmniBack II ).
You can also use the mc command to change tapes. Under OmniBack use /opt/omni/bin/uma.

I can change ID # for Qauntum 4500.But how change ID# for the transport robot. I open the
face cover, there have a BR pin (No. from 3 to 8). What is it?

I find something.
When I use other scsi card (dtc data tech.
dtc3130b),display
"ID# 4-lun 0 Quantum dlt4500
ID# 4-lun 1 Quantum DZ madia changer"
But why AHA-2940 can't display "Id# 4-lun 1 DZ madia changer"?

Hi there.
The QTM4500S usually requirees a separate
SCSI SE interface, so that it can work in streaming mode. Another reason is the length of the cable to the tape machine. No other devices should be connected to this interface,
because then the length might be too large.
The Adaptec 2940 is a Ultra SCSI card. It may be, that the bios does not take the library for this reason. I am not sure. You should contact the Adaptec support for this.

I believe multiple LUN support is NOT the default setting for the AHA2940. Press CTRL/A when you see the BIOS 'splash' for the Adaptec and go into setup and see if the change you need to make is obvious. If not, Adaptec has pretty good web-based tech support.

I checked their website: under Advanced Host Adapter Settings, change Multiple LUN Support to ENABLED (Host Adapter BIOS must be ENABLED). Good luck!

I've a problem with autochanger driver: in my HP-UX 11 box the ioscan output for this device is
autoch 0 10/4/165.1 autox0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN Quantum TZ Media Changer

The spt driver is build in the kernel.
How can I change the driver from autox0 to spt?
