question about restoring from tape

Hi there, simple question: if I make a backup to LTO3 tape using HP's data protector express, is it possible then to restore it at another location using different software?

Hi,

You could, but generally that person would need to be using similar backup software to restore the tape.

ok thanks. on a related note, is it possible to use the 960 just with regular old windows backup on these occasions?

Yes that would work fine.

You might need to stop the Data Protector software just in case it locks out the tape drive from Windows.

You can add this server to the DOMAIn server where you backup with the LTO3 drive then do a restore on a diffrent location using DPE
