selected media not available

Hi, sometimes when i attempt to backup, i received an error message that "there is no free media available with the selected type"; even when the media is in the tape drive.

Pls help.

Which backup application?

This sounds like something that can happen when you have what are called "media pools", and the piece of media currently in the drive isn't (yet) part of that pool. Change the backup specification to use any media. Or, sometimes formatting the tape does it (also overwrites any existing data).
