Re: something wrong?

The drive error log shows that it had repeated calibration errors, all within the one power-on hour (that filled the log).

When the drive cannot calibrate the tape, it cannot read the media ID, so I can't tell if this all happened on the same tape.

Is this a DLT IV tape that was written in a non-DLT1/VS80 drive? If so, it cannot be used without degaussing.

Have you tried multiple tapes? Have you cleaned the drive?

I would recommend running the LTT drive assessment test.

Re: something wrong?

Was the assessment test run on a new (or different) tape? You may have had some debris on the head that cleared itself up.

Regarding degaussing tapes, look at this web page:

Re: something wrong?

the tape was the same cause i have a lot of dlt4000 tapes, but only this one with bts-1 format... in cause of this i asked about degausing (my old tapes) ;)

Re: something wrong?

Christian,

Thanks for clarifying. As I said, it's possible that there may have some debris on the head (or tape) that cleared itself up.
