ssl1016 hang on DP5.5 for HPUX11.11

I configure an SSL1016 autoloader with a Ultrium460 drive as a SCSI-II library device on rp3440 & HPUX11.11, ssl1016 connect rp3440 through dedicated Ultra160 SCSI card. everything is good during setup, but when I try to scan or format media, ssl1016 hang and no respond.
i check output of "ioscan -f", every device is OK.
could anybody give me some advice?

SSL1016 selftest ok;

after loading a cartridge into drive, i can use "tar" command to access SSL1016.

in output of "ioscan -f" & "ioscan -fnCtape", everything is ok.

problem is still ----when format media, DP respond with "Cannot open exchanger control device ([22] Invalid argument) "

another curious information:
when i run "mc -p /dev/rac/c4t0d0 -q", the output is sometime "ERROR: I/O error", and is sometime "ERROR: Invalid argument"--------same command but different result, why?

do you think the SSL1016 hardware error or SCSI link error exist?

I think you should use the uma tool.
Try to do:
#uma -ioctl /dev/rac/c4t0d0

Test for the library function. See on the uma manpage!
Need to check in the Library SCSI device in DP configuration.
