tape drives and dds tapes

Hi there,
Can somemone tell me if it is possible to use a dds2 tape in a dds3 internal tape drive? If it is possible, how do you do do it?
This is for a ux 11.0 system - machine D390.
Thanks heaps
Maria.

Re: tape drives and dds tapes

Hi Maria,

If you mean use a DDS2 tape (120M) in a DDS3 drive the answer is yes.
If you talking about writing the tape in DDS2 format on the DDS3 drive I am sure you can.

I'll look into some old notes for you.

Cheers
Michael

Re: tape drives and dds tapes

Hi Maria,

Try this example:

# mksf -C tape -H 0/12/0/0.6.0 -b DDS2 -c 1 /dev/rmt/0m_DDS2_mode

You may not need to use the '-c 1' option.
