We have got library model Sure Store E Tape Library. We forgot password. Do you know how we can change or reset current password? Do you know where can I find manual for this type of the library?

The SureStore E tape library branding was used on a number of different products, from the 24 .. 48 slot family to the 20, 40 ... 140 family, to the L180 & 700 family.

Each had different password capabilities and different ways to reset them.

Let us know how many drives/slots you have (e.g. 2/20, 10/180, etc).

Thanks for manual but there is written how can I change password for administration but We forget password for service. I belive that I can set password off for service but first I must get to the menu service. It is not possible now becouse I dont know password.

The manual does not tell you how to recover your password.

Here is what you need to do:

1) call HP:
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html

2) Tell them you lost your password. They will ask for some info, and can generate a recovery password for you.

I contacted HP support. They advised me original password from producer.

I have an L180 unit where we finally connected the web console. we do not know the existing password and the factory password of 'horizon' does not work. One HP tech told us we would need to replace a board if the password is lost. I can't imagine that is the only fix, does any one else know how to perform a password recovery procedure on the L180 web interface?

Yes, there is a way to do this without changing the MPC board. If you can arrange for an HP CE to come on site, I can provide him with the instructions to reset the password via the CLI (serial) port. Have him contact David Ruska in the HP directory, and I can email him the directions. We are not allowed to give the procedure out to customers.
