unable to write to tape ultrium tape drive

# tar -cvf /dev/rmt/0m /dev
tar: cannot open /dev/rmt/0m
Why would not be able to do this command? I did an ioscan and the tape is 0m. Thx

Have you checked that there is a tape in the drive?

the memori cartridge could get corrupted, try to write protect the cartridge and try again to read, then eject it , remove the write protection and try again to write on

Do you think I need a HP driver for an IBM Ultrium LTO-1 tape drive?

HELP!! I need to create some device files for an IBM Ultrium drive on a N4000 server. I get have the driver but only shows the HW path. I tried to do insf -e and no special files get created. Thx

What is the ouptput of 'ioscan -fnC tape'?

Is the stape driver loaded in the kernel?

Yes the stape driver was in the kernel and all my device files and paths were all be seen. It just didn't work! finally I downloaded ADDT driver and the drive is working. Still wondering why my stape didn't work if anyone might have an answer.

If it's an IBM LTO drive - I would go to the IBM site if I were you
