update on HP 88780 B 9track

well I have both active and passive terminators. when I have the passive connected the scsi card doesn't sense anything connected. when the active terminator is connected I get a Time Out failure.
please any help appriciated

Ensure TERM power is on. Active terminators are better but for this device passive is fine. Your HBA should normally provide term power as well.
