D2D backing up Novell and/or Progress

We are looking into replacing our current disk-to-disk backup process to using a D2D device (either the 4112 or 4009). Currently, Novell is not supported with enhanced full backups in Data Protector 6.0, so we backup our Novell servers direct to tape. With the D2D device, we plan on using the D2D as a virtual tape library. I'm curious if anyone backs up Novell (or Groupwise 8) to a D2D device, and what performance is like, as well as space savings with deduplication.

As an aside, we are also doing online backups of a Progress database, and plan on putting the backup files on the D2D device. I'm also curious as to the deduplication benefits we can hope to get, in regards to space taken up over time with multiple days' worth of backups.
