I have a several media servers that use the QLA2340 (HP Brand FCA2214, STOR Miniport 9.1.7.17) HBA which are zoned to a D2D4324. After creating a couple of new VTL's, only some drives are detected by the OS. Does anyone know of a way to get these older systems to behave accordingly with the D2D? In total, the servers should see six Medium Changers and 115 drives (port zoning). Rebooting the D2D does not help as well.
D2D Software Revision: 2.2.16
HP Data Protector: 7.01 (CM, IS on 2008 R2)
On another subject, does anyone know if these variables are still needed in DP7. They were used to fix the slow backups caused by 6.2x.

OB2SHMIPC=0
Thanks in advance!

Re: D2D4324 and old HBA (FCA2214)
Hi,
yes, the variables are still in place... Regarding the count of drives - the adapter per default accepts only 128 connection, which can be changed in adapter settings. After that you should be able to see all drives.
Best regards
Daniel

Re: D2D4324 and old HBA (FCA2214)
Hi,
download and install SANSurfer (Qlogic website). Goto the HBA and the setting (advanced GBA settings).
Best regards
Daniel

Re: D2D4324 and old HBA (FCA2214)
I was able to change by going into SANsurfer, then selecting the Port. Then it's Parameters tab, Select Settings section: Advanced HBA Parameters, then LUNs per Target from 128 to 256.
However, there was no change in the device manager after the config was saved. I hate spending so much time getting old technology to work with new!

The server was able to pick up a few more devices, but it still can't see everything.

SolutionGot another update, and it's promising.
The hosts that were not seeing all VTL's and drives were initially zoned into a "general windows zone" with other hosts, like over a dozen. A "single initiator zone" was created and the host was moved to that group by itself. After that, the tape changers and drives were seen by the antiquated server.
