How can I get the backup speed of 37.7T/h of storeonce5500?

Hi team,

At HPE StoreOnce 5500  Product description page,it wrote
” easily tackles shrinking backup windows with up to 37.7 TB/hour using HPE StoreOnce Catalyst for protection of 150TBs of data in a 4-hour window.”  from https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05318269

but No matter in the actual backup test or the data simulation of NinjaSTARS, the maximum catalyst speed is only 3.xGB / s. SO How can we get the speed of 37.7t/h(about 10.7GB/s)?

we are using 100TB storeonce5500 system

Hello Yanggao,

The statement is correct, however let me explain you in details.

Storeonce is a dedupe system, and when you write the repeated data, it will write only the pointers, not the actual data every time.

But for the first time seeding of data, it will take time to complete. Second time when you run the same data backup, the speed will increase, as the same data is already in the storeonce.

Third time speed will increase a more, and keeps on going...

Hope this helps you, in understanding the statement in your query,

Shan
