Storageworks Virtual Autoloader not detecting tapes

I have a HP Storageworks D2D backup system. I have created a single virtual tape drive and run backups sucessfully within backup exec (11d). I have also created a 8 tape Virtual Autoloader which has been detected and installed to backup exec but when I inventory the Autoloader It is not showing as having any tapes. Any ideas? I will be eternally greatful.
