Tape issues with VLS????

I though the whole point of VLS was to get away from tape issues.....

Loads of tapes in our VLS are showing up RED. These virtual tapes somehow go unmounted and backup jobs in DP then start asking for the tapes to be mounted. Is this normal? Why would a virtual tape in a virtual tape library be unmounted in an active pool (not in free media pool)?

I think the tapes are marked as red because the life expires after 2.5 years but I am not 100% sure you are using Data Protector right?
