Ultrium LTO4 over a vhost (AIX VIO)
I have a AIX VIO Server where i have presented six LTO4 Ultrium tapes simulated with a D2D4112 FC in a SAN environment:
# lsdev -Cc tape
rmt0 Available 01-08-00 SAS 4mm Tape Drive
rmt1 Available 04-00-02 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
rmt2 Available 04-00-02 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
rmt3 Available 04-00-02 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
rmt4 Available 04-00-02 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
rmt5 Available 04-00-02 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
rmt6 Available 04-00-02 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
From rmt1 to rmt6 are LTO4 Ultrium (D2D). The problem is when I need to attach the a tape to a vhost AIX (called zigma):
$ mkvdev -vdev rmt6 -vadapter vhost0 -f
"rmt6" is not a valid backing device.
This error happened before with IBM tapes with generic drivers and i can't find a driver of LTO4 Ultrium or D2D for AIX.
It is possible to make it work on the vhost?
Regards.
Daniel
