Automating the patching of multiple VMware ESXi hosts when VSA's running on them?

We have 30+ VMware ESXi hosts which have VSA's running on them and patching those ESXi hosts using VMware update manager is a very manual process due to these running StoreVirtual VSA's.  Our process involves manually putting the ESXi host into maintenance mode, then via CMC powering down the related VSA, and lastly once the VSA powers down begin the patching remediation within vCenter.  Once the ESXi host completes patching we then manually power up the VSA and then wait in CMC to confirm it is detected and resyncing is completed before we then move onto the next ESXi host and its associated VSA.

Does anybody do this in a reasonably automated way?  The risk of course is we need to not only make sure the VSA is gracefully shutdown, but that more importantly when it is powered back up, that it completes its resync, before moving onto the next ESXi host and associated VSA.

Thanks

Hello Fourg,

to ensure that volumes are resynched after rebooting a Storevirtual VSA is always mandatory if you wish to continue rebooting the next Storevirtual VSA node within Management Group in order to regain High availabitly.

You can have a look at the Storevirtual CLI Guide and check if you can create a script to monitor volumes status, such as scripts are not supported by HPE and should be prepared by customer.
