Backing up - Application Aware Snapshots Advanced Open File - Off Host Backup
Hi All,
I wander if any one can help me with this problem or has anyone else seen this?
Over the weekend I updated all our HP P4000 G2 SAN's to version 10 and all the servers that use the LUN's to version 10 of the Application Aware snapshot manager.
Since this upgrade we cannot backup anymore.
We currently use Backup Exec 2010 R3 on a Backup Server with the Open File and Advanced Disk Backup options.
This means that when we backup, the media server tells the Data server to create Application Aware snapshot using the HP Snapshot manager software on the SAN. This then assigns the Backup Server read/write access to the snapshot on the SAN which the Backup server connects to directly and backs up the files from this, once complete, the backup server deletes these created snapshots.
This has been working fine until we upgraded.
Now when the Data server creates the snapshot (which create correctly), the SAN does not assign the correct permissions on the LUN for the backup server so the backup job fails and then does not delete the snapshot
All HP Snapshot software is installed as the latest version.
The Snapshots are all created correctly, it just seems that the snapshots are not inheriting the correct permissions.
Thanks for your help
James

Re: Backing up - Application Aware Snapshots Advanced Open File - Off Host Backup
Hello,
We had some problems after the upgrade to SAN/IQ 10 to.
Solved it by
1) creating an server cluster in CMC (that will assign all servers in that cluster to the snapshot)
2) installed next microsoft hotfixes (to fix iSCSI, MPIO connection errors during backup wich caused crashing of the hyper-v cluster):

Re: Backing up - Application Aware Snapshots Advanced Open File - Off Host Backup
Hi,
have you found the solution for this?
I did the update today and experiencing exactly the same problem. Snapshot is getting created but no server is assigned, so the backup fails (but in my case with BE2012)
Best regards
