Drive space alert from vsa node and fom

Hi.

We are getting disk alerts from Solarwinds for our vsa nodes and fom. The volume in question is '/'   size 960.9MB used 937.2MB

Is there anyway of extending this volume?

Volume                       Size                            Space Used        Percentage used

/                                 960.9 MB                    932.7 MB            98%

/var/log                       960.9 MB                    27.8 MB                3%

Hi mosschops99,

You can reboot the VSA to free some space in the /var/log partition. The LeftHand OS file system sizes are not changeable.

You didn't mention which version of VSA you are using. The legacy VSA 7GB system disk is rather small for today's requirements. The HP StoreVirtual VSA 2014 32GB system disk works fine. Have a look at the Hardware Report tab of the Diagnostics menu item for that VSA to see the [Model] type. Unfortunately, expanding the system disk size in the host environment will not cause the /var/log file system to expand.

Re: Drive space alert from vsa node and fom

Thanks for the reply.

Is it on v2014 but was upgraded from v9 I think. We also have a VSA in another site which was first installed as v2014. The volume status of that system is:

Volume        Size           Space Used          Percentage used

/                  4.7 GB        1.2 GB                  26%

/var/log        960.9 MB   24 MB                  3%

So on the original system what happens when the / volume gets to 100%

Thanks is advance for any help

Re: Drive space alert from vsa node and fom

You can expect your storage to stop working if the VSA system disk fills up.

If you upgraded the VSA from legacy SAN/iQ 9.0 or 9.5, the system disk size is too small to accomodate the new code in 11.5 or later. The best solution move all your data to other storage temporarily, destroy the management group and rebuild with the 10.5 VSA 2014 which can use your legacy licenses if you keep the same MAC addresses. Upgrades from the 10.5 VSA 2014 work fine.

Re: Drive space alert from vsa node and fom

Hi.

Great answer thanks. Both nodes destroyed and rebuilt with 12.5 all good now.

Cheers!
