HPE 4130 upgrade to 8 disks
I am working with a customer who has a SAN cluster with 1 x 4130 (4x600Gb) and 1 x 4330 (8x900Gb) - don't ask!
I am wanting to increase the number of disks in the 4130 to 8x600Gb so that we can increase the available capacity of the cluster.
I have inserted a drive in slot 5, the lights come on, but nothing shows in the CMC.
Is the 4130 limited to 4 disks?
I cannot find information which confirms or denies this - several references to 4 free bays, pictures of units with 8 drives, but also diagrams showing only 4 drives.
Your help would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Martin

Re: HPE 4130 upgrade to 8 disks
Thanks Torsten
That's one of the docs I found.
It tells me what the 4130 is shipped with, shows slots 5-8 numbered, but doesn't say whether 4 disks is the limit.

Re: HPE 4130 upgrade to 8 disks
Take a closer look:
You probably need an upgrade license but I'm not sure if the capacity can be upgraded.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HPE 4130 upgrade to 8 disks
Hi,
The 41xx nodes have by default 4 disks, the 43xx nodes 8 disks.
There is no license, it is not possible to add disks, even if there are slots available. This is due to the fact that it is a DL360 server...
If you add the disks, probably it will work (if you extend raid groups on RAID controller level etc) but it will definitely NOT be supported by HPE. So this will be on your own responsibility...

Re: HPE 4130 upgrade to 8 disks
But that just appears as a marketing spec:
Looking at Page 8, the model detail is listed (B7E16A), and the diagram shows slots 5-8 numbered
I'll try to get the customer to raise a support call.
