P4500 - VIP Subnet Calculation Error

P4500
New Management Group Creation
VIP Creation
Centralized Management Console
"The following Virtual IP (VIP) address ias not on the same
subnet as any of the cluster's storage systems:
VIP: 137.187.8.135, Mask: 255.255.254.0
...
Management group creation fails
Storage system IP addresses are:
137.187.8.131 mask 255.255.254.0
137.187.8.132 mask 255.255.254.0
137.187.8.133 mask 255.255.254.0
137.187.8.134 mask 255.255.254.0
In what parallel universe is 137.187.8.135 not in the same
subnet as 137.187.8.131-134 when the subnet mask of all is
255.255.254.0?
All systems are running most current code releases and updates.

Re: P4500 - VIP Subnet Calculation Error

Hey, do you necessarily have to have /23 subnet configured on this device?

Why not just set it to /16 or something else - I believe network-wise it will work - but maybe you want to have it in case of security?

Hello Brian, have you managed to overcome this issue. I've got the same one

Thank you

Re: P4500 - VIP Subnet Calculation Error

I see this error on occasion as well using the VSA and CMC version 9.5. I always assumed the cause was my default gateway not being reachable on the SAN (layer 2 only), but was never positive this was the cause.

Re: P4500 - VIP Subnet Calculation Error

that is odd and it "should" work.  I would contact support over this one.  Must be some sort of bug w/ the fact that you are using a pubilc IP range... or, if you don't actually own those IP addresses (aka you aren't w/ the NIH) there might be something else going on.

personally I don't like the idea of a SAN using real public IPs.
