Reclaiming unused blocks on Lefthand SAN
http://partners.netapp.com/go/techontap/matl/space_reclamation.html
Does HP have a solution for my thinly provisioned Lefthand volumes?

Re: Reclaiming unused blocks on Lefthand SAN
As far a I am aware the SANs do this automatically. At lease on my P4500s the free space goes up and down as I add and remove files on my VMs.

Re: Reclaiming unused blocks on Lefthand SAN
Paul is right. The newer versions of SAN-IQ (8 and up if memory serves) do this automatically.

Re: Reclaiming unused blocks on Lefthand SAN
Thin provisioning works- where a block is not provisioned until use. These are not automatically "un provisioned" like some other vendors. Storage will only go up, not down if that makes sense.
