Re: how to connect multiple iscsi initiator to a lun

a Server nly has 1 IQN associated with it.

When you set up your iSCSI initiator, there shold be a multipath option.

What OS are you running?

Re: how to connect multiple iscsi initiator to a lun

I don't have an ESX 3.5 environment to step through the process anymore... but in 4.x.. you would add in a second vmKernel for your second iSCSI path, assign an Ip address to it and bind it to the adaptor. There are probably some mild variations to the process.

Re: how to connect multiple iscsi initiator to a lun

hello
i found that
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1007817

i was using a dedicate ISCSI card and after reading the kb i think that i should only used the iscsi soft initiator
am i right ?
thanks

Re: how to connect multiple iscsi initiator to a lun

Not sure if this helps the situation any...

but I've talked to several engineer's now that say that a the performance gain when using a hardware based iSCSI card is almost not noticable anymore as compared to the software iSCSI initiator and that you would really need a very big load to see any major difference... mainly due to the attention given to the development of the software/driver.

Re: how to connect multiple iscsi initiator to a lun

The kb article refers to the Lefthand VSA... not a P4300 physical solution.

The VSA is a Virtual SAN/iQ OS that allows you to use the storage available to an ESX or Hyper-V server... to serve up iSCSI access to it.

I don't think it applies to you in this case since you stated you have a P4300. a P4300 usually means a physical server, or set of servers that run SAN/iQ.

Re: how to connect multiple iscsi initiator to a lun

Escuse me for this question but what is the difference between a VSA and a 4300 lefthand solution
