Re: Networking failed

Networking failed

We have small network of HP machines in our office. These machines are running XP. We have given them different IP addresses in 192.168.0. series 174, 175, 176 etc. Earlier these PCs were accessible to each other after putting them in sharing and printer installed on one machine was being shared by us in the office. Now we are able to access the printers & PCs. We are able to ping the PCs from each other by
ping 192.168.0.175 from 174 but not accessible by command \\192.168.0.175
what may be the problem.
Help us.

Re: Networking failed

Hi

I am able to ping the machines to each other say from 192.168.0.172 when I ping 192.168.0.175
I get 100% data back without any loss.
But when I use \\192.168.0.175 cmd in run window. It gives error syaing not accessible and unable to see the printer connected on 175 from 172 in add printer.
Also unable to see the 175 in the My Network Places.

Why it is happing?

Re: Networking failed

disable both pc on firewall or other antivurus&firewall program

and chenge ip addreess both pc

for example
pc1
192.168.0.89
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.0.x

pc2
192.168.0.88
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.0.x

and re test
cenk

Re: Networking failed

Hi
Thanks
Already Firewall & Antivirus (Macfee) disabled.

PC1
IP 192.168.0.172
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default Getway 192.168.0.1

PC2
IP 192.168.0.175
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default Getway 192.168.0.1

192.168.0.1 is our server through which our internet (Broadband) connected.
Both 172 & 175 ping with each other as well as with server 1 with 100% return of data.
But none is accessible from other PC in the network. Today we have installed a new PC with IP 192.168.0.174.
Surprising 172 is accessible with 174 and vice versa. But 175 is not accessible from both the 172 & 174.
I have even changed the workgroup 2-3 times.
I am unable to understand the problem.
Networking was never that much tought in past.
It was simple jut assign IP and check the PC.
