10 gig on a 9300...

Hi Guys,

Looking at making our first move towards 10Gbe between 2 of our core 9308 switches.

Is there any pitfalls or problems that i need to look out for?

I was looking at the following equipment :

ProCurve 9300 2-port 10-GbE Module (J8174A)
ProCurve 10-GbE XENPAK SR Optic (J8175A)

We run 50/125um fibre between the switches and the distance is only about 100 metres.

Without wanting to sound stupid, is the configuration the same as usual on the switch?

Any experiences or ideas would be much appreciated!

Cheers

I've been using some 10G ports in a 9308 with success - talking to a bunch of HP rx16X0's. I don't do much config (virtually none :) so I cannot speak to the configuration stuff, but from what I can recall poking around the CLI it looked much the same as the 1G.

Depending on the age of your 9308 and the bits you have on it, you may need/want to update the firmware first.
