1800-8g vlan tagging

Has anyone had any luck with the HP 1800 switches with vlans. I have added 3 new vlans 100, 200 and 300. I want to connect it to a HP 2600 switch with the same vlan numbers. I have tagged the ports on the 2600 for all 3 vlans (just like any other uplink). But the 1800 only seems to be accessible with vlan 1 only (untagged on the 2600)???

Have you tagged the relevant port on the 1800 as well? It's not clear from your question whether you have done so.

Re: 1800-8g vlan tagging

That is the problem.. the wierd web interface is not very intuitive...
I can select the checkbox on the 1800 to assign the vlans to a particluar port, but the only option that I can get to work is to untag one vlan on the 2600 and only check off one vlan on the 1800... it does not appear to like tagged ports... or I cannot figure out what option to set in the GUI to allow tagged vlans to work???

Re: 1800-8g vlan tagging

For anyone who runs into this issue... I finally figured this out... the Web interface for Vlan port configuration is a little deceiving... the drop down menu to choose the vlan you wan the workstation to be on (PVID) is greyed out by default, but you can still select it and choose a vlan within the dropdown that is not greyed out.

Re: 1800-8g vlan tagging

The manual is fairly cryptic when it comes to VLANs on the 1800. It would be nice if it had some more examples - especially an example of connecting it to a more traditional ProCurve switch. E.g, config of a 2600 with one untagged VLAN, two tagged - and connecting to a 1800.
