2524
Hello all.
I recently bought the mentioned switch to get a feel of managing a switch and learning.
What I want to do, is have a specific port and limit the port to around 1mb/s or less.
I'm not too sure how to do this, I have flow control enabled and broadcast rate set to 1.
But the internet is still lightning fast, but I wish it to be dog slow, mainly because of a family member downloading all the time and taking all the bandwidth.
Please advise :)

Re: 2524
2524 doc's i encountered so far do not mention anything about QoS or rate-limiting capabilities.
Looks like this is not configurable in this switch.
like the 2510 can!
look for "advanced trafic management" manual
on www.procurve.com

Re: 2524
So, what can I do, to slow down a specific port, or is it just not possible on this switch.
I'm download HP TopTools now, but do I need the hardware in order for that to work?

Re: 2524
It's not possible on this switch. You probably need to look at a router/firewall which can limit the speed on an IP address basis.
